What Are the Benefits of a Bridalplasty?
1/9/2023
Preparing to walk down the aisle is an exciting time and one that you’ll likely remember for the rest of your life. On such a monumental occasion – sure to be documented with countless photos and videos – most brides hope to look their very best. This has led to the rise in popularity of pre-wedding cosmetic surgery, playfully referred to as “bridalplasty.” If you’re thinking about giving your face or body a boost ahead of your big day, consider the benefits of bridalplasty as discussed below by premier Newport Beach board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Sean Kelishadi of SSK Plastic Surgery.
What is a bridalplasty?
The term “bridalplasty” can be used in reference to almost any cosmetic procedure – or combination of procedures – that a bride-to-be schedules in preparation for her wedding day. While some people refer to a pre-wedding rhinoplasty (nose surgery) as a bridalplasty, others use the term as an umbrella to cover one or more of the following:
- Breast augmentation
- Breast lift
- Breast revision
- Breast reduction
- Tummy tuck
- Liposuction
- Brazilian butt lift
- Butt augmentation
- Vaginal rejuvenation
- Facial surgeries (rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, etc.)
Much like a mommy makeover, each bridalplasty is customized based on the bride’s wish list, primary concerns, and other factors. Following a comprehensive consultation, Dr. Kelishadi will recommend a surgical plan tailored specifically for the patient.
How long before my wedding should I get bridalplasty?
The best time to schedule your bridal cosmetic surgery will depend heavily on which treatments and procedures are included in your bridalplasty plan. For women who are only interested in nonsurgical or minimally invasive treatments – like cosmetic injectables – an appointment may be scheduled within a few months or weeks of the wedding. More extensive bridalplasty plans, however, will need to be carefully and strategically scheduled to allow the patient plenty of time to recover prior to the wedding – and for the final results of the procedure to be visible by the big day. For example, pre-wedding surgeries that include a tummy tuck, skin removal, or breast enhancement are ideally performed at least 6 – 12 months before the wedding, giving the tissues time to heal, any implants time to settle, and scars time to heal and fade.
Is there such a thing as a bridalplasty for men?
Absolutely. Brides aren’t the only ones who are interested in kicking things up a notch for their big day. More and more grooms are turning to cosmetic surgery and/or aesthetic treatments to enhance their wedding day look. Among the most popular pre-wedding cosmetic procedures for men are:
- Liposuction
- Gynecomastia surgery
- Laser hair removal
- Hair restoration
Another growing trend is couples’ surgery, which offers both partners the opportunity to enhance their looks together while strengthening their bond during the special time leading up to their wedding.
