With natural aging and pregnancy, many women experience vaginal changes that can keep them from enjoying life to the fullest. SSK Plastic Surgery offers minimally invasive therapy using ThermiVa® technology. ThermiVA treatment uses gentle and temperature-controlled radiofrequency technology to promote natural collagen production and tighten the vaginal tissue. As a result, patients can experience benefits such as better vaginal sensation and improved lubrication. Treatment doesn’t involve anesthesia or injections, and it is conveniently performed at our facility in Newport Beach, CA.

Dr. Sean Kelishadi is a board-certified plastic surgeon who helps patients see a difference in the appearance and function of the vaginal tissue. With just one ThermiVA session, women will notice a tighter vagina with stronger pelvic muscles. If Kegel exercises, also known as pelvic-floor exercises, don’t do enough to help your leaky bladder, this treatment is also beneficial for patients who struggle with urinary incontinence. If muscle weakness is getting in the way of your personal life, it is time to consult SSK Plastic Surgery. With our knowledge and experience with ThermiVa technology, you can regain firmness and control.

What can I expect during my ThermiVa procedure?

Vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa can be used to address common health concerns such as as vaginal changes due to aging or childbirth, urinary incontinence, and painful sexual intercourse due to dryness. Ultimately, we find that vaginal restoration improves a woman’s overall health and sexual function.

ThermiVa is conducted during a comfortable in-office session that does not require anesthesia or surgery. After applying ultrasound gel to the treatment area, Dr. Kelishadi uses temperature-controlled radiofrequency energy to heat the surface of the tissue. This stimulates the nerves, improving blood flow in the labia and vagina. The heat also promotes the body’s natural production of collagen for long-lasting benefits. You will feel movement and gentle pressure from the handheld device. Though the handpiece can be adjusted based on your comfort level, many of our patients say the treatment reminds them of a warming massage. The total treatment time for the ThermiVa procedure may vary, but generally lasts about 30 minutes per session.

While this method of vaginal restoration is noninvasive, all procedures involve some risk. For about an hour after your appointment, the skin may be slightly pink and feel warm to the touch. Any side effects should resolve within 24 hours. Unless otherwise directed by Dr. Kelishadi, you can resume normal activities after your ThermiVa treatment, and vaginal intercourse is generally permitted later that day. Most women can enjoy the benefits of vaginal rejuvenation for 9 – 12 months. After that, you may need one or more maintenance sessions each year to maintain the benefits.

In just a few hours, many of our patients report feeling tighter and more in control of their bodies. For the best results, we suggest a series of three treatments initially, followed by yearly touch-ups. It is easy, safe, and definitely a worthwhile procedure. To discuss your individual concerns and see whether ThermiVa is the right solution for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Kelishadi in Newport Beach, CA.

Who is a candidate for vaginal rejuvenation?

Some people mistakenly believe that vaginal restoration is only for women interested in the appearance of their vagina. While it’s true that ThermiVa does benefit the aesthetic of the vagina, there is much more to this procedure than you might think. The right candidates include those who:

Have vaginal laxity

Experience sexual dissatisfaction

Experience pain during intercourse

Suffer from a leaky bladder

An added benefit of ThermiVa is that women can achieve the amazing results they want without the need for extensive surgery, medications, or unnecessary downtime. When considering the ThermiVa procedure, patients also do not need to be concerned if they plan to get pregnant in the future. Vaginal rejuvenation does not affect your ability to become pregnant, and you can always return for a follow-up treatment after giving birth.

Conversely, it is not the right time for vaginal rejuvenation with ThermiVa if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with health issues such as a urinary tract infection (UTI), yeast infection, or active sexually transmitted infection (STI) are not candidates for this procedure at this time. You can talk with Dr. Kelishadi about scheduling a ThermiVa session once these health issues have been resolved.
