Is the Mommy Makeover Right for Me?

Mothers from all walks of life have beautiful stories to tell about how they brought children into the world. However, most women that come into my office prefer to verbalize that story and not have their bodies tell it for them. Plastic surgeons in Orange County feel privileged to work with such an extraordinary group of women that are bold enough to take the step to recover their confidence. Although pregnancy is an amazing process, the fact that mothers tend not to feel so amazing about their appearance is why the Mommy Makeover has become a popular request in my Orange County plastic surgery office.

Why is it necessary?

Some might ask, "Why not just diet and exercise? Is surgery really necessary?"  Unfortunately for some, there are times where there isn't an exercise or a diet that will correct the damage that has been done to the body. In cases of excessively stretched skin or deflated breasts, surgical intervention is the only method that will bring lasting results.

What is it exactly?

The Mommy Makeover is comprised of different procedures designed to restore the body back to it's appearance before pregnancy. It is not necessarily just for mothers as many people can benefit from the procedures involved. Typically a Mommy Makeover is composed of (but not limited to) a combination of procedures involving a tummy tuck, breast augmentation and or a breast lift, as well as liposuction. Your Orange County plastic surgeon will assess which of those procedures are best for your body, and will recommend accordingly.  It's important to understand that although the mommy makeover is a combination of cosmetic surgical procedures, some may be required while others may not be.

What is the recovery process?

Patience is key when it comes to recovery. You shouldn't expect that you will bounce back right away after undergoing a combination of procedures such as these.  Every patient has her differences regarding the healing process, but it's safe to say you can resume normal activities within 6 weeks. The tummy tuck component is the primary factor that drives your recovery time. Again, not all patients will have the same combination of procedures. Therefore, recovery time is assessed through the recommendations of your Orange County plastic surgeon.

If you are looking for a plastic surgeon in Orange County for your mommy makeover, you will need to schedule a consultation. Your surgeon will be able to recommend the procedures that are right for your body.
