Buttock Augmentation Given A "Worth It Rating" of 93%
Cosmetic surgery data for 2013 reveal that liposuction was the most commonly performed. Traditionally, this technique has involved the use of small cannulas to remove unwanted fat. Even people living healthy lifestyles with strict diets and exercise programs seek their Orange County Cosmetic Surgeon to remove stubborn fat that won’t go away and optimize the contours of their silhouettes. Recently, scientists have studied the fat removed via liposuction and its use as a biologic filler. I am writing about this topic to discuss the latest techniques and uses for fat transfer and liposuction Orange County has to offer.
Fat is found nearly everywhere throughout the body. When removed and properly processed from an area of excess, it can be injected or transferred as a fat graft to an area that lacks volume. When performed in the buttock, some people in the media have referred to this technique as the “Brazilian Butt Lift.” This is the cornerstone of how I do the majority of my gluteoplasty procedures in men and women. Fat grafting has gained recent attention for its uses in smoothing out deep scars, correcting contour deformities seen in cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery, facial rejuvenation, and buttock augmentation.
Of all surgical procedures performed in 2012 and 2013, buttock augmentation had the largest percentage of increase at 58%. The best candidates for gluteoplasty (shaping of the buttocks) surgery are patients who lack buttock volume because they either were born that way or have lost weight. The goal is to improve the “perkiness” of the gluteal region, analogous to what is achieved on the front side of women with breast augmentation. I also perform additional liposuction around and near the buttock to improve the overall “lifting” appearance and projection. This procedure is usually performed as an outpatient and takes 1-2 hours. Most people are back to work within a week. Recently on Realself.com, buttock augmentation was given a “worth it rating” of 93%.
