The Brazilian Butt Lift has been one of the top trends in my Orange County Plastic Surgery office for quite some time now.

Every day there are women asking questions on RealSelf about whether or not they are good candidates for this popular procedure. As an Orange County plastic surgeon, I am always seeking new opportunities to address the range of questions that men and women have about cosmetic surgery on social media. The Brazilian Butt Lift has been one of the most talked about cosmetic surgery procedures on Twitter, Instagram, and Real Self.

Sample questions regarding the Brazilian Butt Lift concern cost and whether or not to gain or lose weight in order to qualify for the procedure. This may not be the most gratifying answer for those of you that are doing some general research, but the honest answer is that there is no general answer….

YOU HAVE TO FIRST UNDERSTAND THAT EVERY WOMAN IS DIFFERENT AND HAS A UNIQUE SHAPE THAT REQUIRES IT’S OWN SPECIAL ATTENTION.

Any Orange County Plastic Surgeon would need to conduct a consultation to give you the most accurate answers about this procedure and how it relates to your specific body frame. There is no “one size fits all” response for how much weight you should gain or lose. However, I can encourage you to join the community on Realself if you have questions about your body. My personal opinion is that if you enter the procedure at your “usual” or stable weight, that your long-term results will be more reliable. The reason for this is that the fat that is transferred will proportionately gain or lose weight as your overall weight fluctuates.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is achieved first by liposuction of the flanks, abdomen, and lower back, and then by transfer of the fat that is taken to an area where it is more desired.  For many women, having a perkier buttocks is appealing. By slimming the waist or getting rid of the muffin top area via liposuction, the buttocks is more noticeable and has a nicer mound to project off of. Then, with fat transfer, we can further enhance the shape and/or size of the buttocks and hips to help create the ideal body shape desired. We can also accommodate the desired figure by performing liposuction on your thighs if need be, allowing even more fat to be harvested to enhance your curves. Every woman has different areas on her body that may accumulate excess fat. During our consultation, we would assess your goals. The Brazilian Butt Lift is achieved first by liposuction of the flanks, abdomen, and lower back, and then by transfer of the fat.
